It's time

Yep, it's time.

With deep reluctance (I always felt they'd have to drag me out of here kicking and screaming) it's time for me to close the office.

I have enjoyed every single second of my time here beginning in June 1990 when I began my practice here in the heart of beautiful Greenwich Village.

I have more than anything else enjoyed meeting you, listening to you, working with you, helping you through Chiropractic, and watching you thrive. I've loved forcing you to listen to my music and learning about your strengths, your families, your fears, and your successes. You are the most wonderful people I know and coming to "work" to see you and be with you was a pleasure every single day and a privilege I never took lightly.

I'm an old hippie. I still wholeheartedly believe in peace, love, and happiness. I tried to create an atmosphere of peace in the office, a place where you could feel nurtured and loved, a place where after you left your appointment you were a happier person.

Peace, love and happiness….

Thank you for everything you've done for me.

So, it’s not just that some days my thumbs (yes, my thumbs) hurt, nor that more than ever I feel OFF (old, fat, and frail). And it’s not just the slow recovery from the pandemic nor even just that the changing landscape of healthcare poses a great challenge these days for a dinosaur (me) to continue practicing the way I do.

It’s just that it feels like it’s time to move on.

I would be ridiculously in error if I did not mention here the amazing front desk people I've had over the years. It's been one of the biggest joys of my life working on a daily basis with them and then watching them go from the front desk here on to bigger and better conquests. I really believe that the future will be well served and that there might be hope for this planet yet based on the young people I've been fortunate to have sit in the office with me. I know how wonderfully they have served you and how they truly enjoyed seeing you as much as I do.

Anyway, I have made a short YouTube thing to accompany this letter. Please go to https://youtu.be/Fu7NSOsthrA

So, I am hoping to transition you to the practice of Dr. Steven McMahon, my friend whose office is 231 West 21st in Chelsea. He is a great Chiropractor, the same style of adjustment as I do. SURPRISE, I will be working there in January and February as Dr. McMahon has a broken hand (bummer for a Chiropractor).

If, for whatever reason, you want a different Chiropractor, please let me know and I’ll do my best to find you one or to speak with them and update them about your case.

I will remain available to you via email, phone, and text. In fact, I look forward to hearing from you as you move forward. Your trust, your loyalty, and your friendship have been everything that is good about my life.

Oh, so before I sign off with something like “warmest regards’, which can’t even come close to the depths of warm feelings I have for you, the last day in the office will be Fri. Dec. 22. (I will be in McMahon’s office during Jan and Feb on Tues and Fri beginning Jan. 2).

Warmest regards……

Dr. Jay Heller
